Can you handle a University of Miami x Plates by Lisa takeover?!


University of Miami Alumni Association presented “Cooking with a ‘Cane: Plates by Lisa,” a live virtual cooking class.


Chef Lisa shared her talents + flavorful recipes for an audience nationwide! 208 guests from all over the country tuned in to bring magnificent cocktails + dishes to life. The event broke records as Carol Shipman, University of Miami Alumni Relations said “it was the best + most successful virtual event UM has ever had!”


Attendees were offered a glimpse into a celebrity chef’s kitchen, which featured organic ingredients, luxurious creations + unmatched positive vibes!


President of Los Angeles ‘Canes, Dawn Minkow, moderated the event for an interactive experience. Guests asked direct questions about recipe steps, participated in fun audience polls + shared photos on Instagram for a chance to win a Plates by Lisa farmers market + cooking experience!


There were lots of fun comments on the massive salmon sourced for the demonstration. Chef Lisa: “She was fabulous + vibrant! Just like the Cooking with a ‘Cane audience!”


Chef Lisa even spilled the tea on how to impress guests with dazzling tablescapes + details on hosting. She shared her effortless tricks, like adding fresh sprigs of rosemary or lavender to your napkins + scattering candles for that intimate touch.


And to top off the beautiful cuisine, a dash of green + orange glitter was the perfect way to show it’s great to be a Miami Hurricane.


Everyone could feel the UM comradery through their screens, which left guests sharing nostalgic memories of their UM experiences with the community.


As a University of Miami Alumna, Chef Lisa loved sharing her passions with the university that provided her an amazing college experience + a strong foundation to become the businesswoman she is today.


Chef Lisa: “I’ve always had a strong entrepreneurial mindset, but UM helped me learn how to build a business from the ground up. The UM community creates an indescribable sense of home that allows every student to flourish + step outside their comfort zones, while never feeling alone in the process. I couldn’t have dreamed of anything else from my college experience.”
